The month of reWASD 8.0: What Happened and What We Do in the Shadows

It's been a month since reWASD 8.0 changed the game—literally. Some of you liked it, some - let's say - didn't. But let's make it clear again: what’s different this time around, and why does it matter to you?

In this post, we’ll break down the most important changes, focusing on the key area you care about the most—game compatibility—while also shedding light on other updates and giving you a sneak peek of what’s coming next. Spoilers alerts, folks.

Starting with reWASD 8.0 we support All Your Favorite Games - again.

We know—it’s not a brand-new feature for you, guys… Some of you even said we broke it before (no, we didn’t). But this is something that took time to improve, making everything work stably and the way it should.

Ok, one more time: reWASD 8.0 is now compatible with all possible games, including the likes of the Call of Duty series, Apex Legends, XDefiant, FIFA, Fortnite, and even Heroes of Might and Magic III for the nostalgia seekers. If you’re worried about whether reWASD works with a particular game, rest assured—it does!

And if you happen to encounter any issues, we’re here for you. We are fully committed to resolving any game compatibility issues that arise. If something doesn’t feel right with a particular game, let us know, and we’ll take care of it.

However, we want to emphasize here and now our commitment to supporting our users' right to use reWASD with every game they want. And we’ll make it possible.

Games are for everyone, and so is reWASD.

What Else Happened?

While game compatibility is the main highlight of this release, there are a couple of other key changes we need to address. Let’s break them down, so there are no surprises.

Subscription Model

We know this wasn’t everyone’s favorite change. The all-in-one subscription model might not be for everyone, but it simplifies things moving forward (including the complicated development process we never stopped).

The subscription model gets access to all features of reWASD—no need to worry about what’s included and what’s not.

For our long-time users with legacy licenses, don’t worry—your existing features are still available and will stay that way. You'll also get updates and new versions, so nobody forces you to abandon the licenses for a subscription. But if you want to unlock everything or use reWASD on multiple PCs, the subscription is the most straightforward option.

We can imagine you might have questions already, let’s do a quick Q&A:

1. Can I buy some additional features for my license?

No, we decided to leave the term "Additional feature" behind. Your license will cover only its functionality at the moment of purchase. Just as before, you will receive the updates. However, certain updates may include features not covered by some licenses, making them inaccessible to users with those licenses.

2. Should I change my plan to a subscription?

Again, we do not insist on transferring everyone to a subscription. It is your right to continue using reWASD as before. However, if you might be interested in using reWASD on multiple PCs or in getting features that aren't included—then a subscription is for you.

3. How do I change my plan to a subscription if I have a legacy license?

It's easy. As a reWASD user, you have two options:

- Subscribe as everyone does. This way, your account will have a subscription and all the licenses purchased before. While authorizing, you will have to choose which way will reWASD work on this PC - with a subscription or with your license key.

- License upgrade to subscription - currently unavailable, but we're working on this option to make it smooth and clear.

4. Can I have multiple subscriptions on one account?

No, one account can only have one subscription, but you can choose a subscription plan that includes more devices. You also have the option to upgrade your subscription plan to a more suitable one if needed. Although your account can only have one subscription, you can still keep multiple legacy licenses and use them on different devices.

New Trial Process

Yes, trials now come with a small catch—registration is required authorization within the app. But there’s a reason for it.

In return, you get access to the full functionality of reWASD during the trial, without any restrictions, and you can activate it on two different systems. So, while the initial step might feel like a hassle, the benefits are clear. You get 7 days to explore everything we offer.

Membership and Legacy License Management

We’ve added a personal area to the reWASD app and rewasd.com website. What is this about? It is about your comfort, privacy, and security.

Starting with reWASD 8.0, signing in is required to use the app. But please, don't create any new accounts if you already have one. Use your credentials from daemon-tools.cc to sign in to the app and rewasd.com. It will take only a few moments.

A personal area on the app or Membership page allows you to easily navigate between your legacy licenses and subscriptions (and instances). We have a short YouTube video to show how it works and what it offers and also an article in our help guide. Check it out.

The spoilers part that was promised

We’re not stopping with reWASD 8.0. Our team is already working on the next release, and although it’s a smaller update, it includes some important improvements that should make your experience even smoother:

  • Virtual gyro shaking: We’re enhancing this functionality to provide shaking for the games that may require it;

  • Physical scroll mapping: Soon, mice and certain gamepads will be able to map virtual scrolls to their physical scrolls, offering more flexibility for your setup.

  • DarkWalker ShotPad mode: We’re adding a new mode that allows the touchpad to work like a trackball, making aiming and cursor control even more precise.

  • Radial menu improvements: For those using the radial menu, we’re introducing the ability to exit directly to a specific shift layer, streamlining navigation.

And this is just a portion of what’s coming. These updates are part of our ongoing commitment to keep reWASD as powerful, flexible, and user-friendly as possible.

That’s it for now, but there’s more in the pipeline. If you have any feedback or encounter any issues, let us know—we’re here to help. In the meantime, enjoy reWASD 8.0, and let us know how we can make your gaming experience even better!
